A House On The Rock

“He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.”

Psalm 62:6

While I am not an expert in construction, it doesn’t take a lot of knowledge for me to understand that the most important thing every building needs to have first is a solid and reliable foundation.

Every house needs a good, strong foundation to remain standing. I wouldn’t want to live in a place where I would feel unsafe knowing it may fall any time. We live in a world of chaos, uncertainty and problems. Having a place to hide, a home where one feels safe, peaceful and protected is what we all need.

Our life depends on what we strongly believe in, and what our values are. It depends on what we stand for. Our Christian life depends on our faith. It may either fall or rise up high.

Our Christian faith is like a house that shelters us from the world. It’s a place where we feel safe because we know who we are. We know the truth. Jesus is the rock our faith is built upon. He’s the way. He’s our shield. “There’s no rock like our God” (1 Samuel 2:2). Nothing in the world can withstand any problem, any calamity, any tribulation except Jesus.

Life may bring strong winds, earthquakes and storms. Jesus tells us that we will always have tribulations in this world. But He is able to calm any storm, anything that comes our way and threatens our Christian life. We’d better hold on to Him each day.

Just like every house needs maintenance, so does our Christian faith. Our souls need to be daily cleansed and our minds renewed. We need to be fed by the Word of God. Temptation, worldly desires, sexual immorality, idolatry lure us everywhere we go.

It’s easy to fall short living in a world like that. And yet, it’s possible to survive it and remain obedient to the Lord through Jesus.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrew 13:8). He lived in the world we live in today. He went through every temptation and trial we are going through today. He’s the only one who can truly and completely relate, and help us in times of troubles.

If today you don’t have a place to hide, a home where you could feel safe and your tomorrow secured, just know that you can have a home in Jesus. He is your rock and your salvation, your fortress; you shall not be shaken. Regardless of what you face today and tomorrow, your future is protected, and your life is preserved.

Turn to the Lord for protection. Surrender and your life to Him. He is the solid foundation upon which you can build your faith today which will withstand anything life will throw at you tomorrow.

Choose to build your life on the foundation of the truth which will last forever.

Choose Jesus.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10.
