“Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment other than these.”
Mark 12:31
What do you think about planning? Is it a blessing or a curse for you, personally? Why? How about being intentional and start planning to love people? Let’s get to that in a minute.
For some of us, planning is a real game-changer because it helps accomplish lots of important things in our daily life. For some, on the other hand, it becomes a burden.
Personally, I love planning! I like to know what’s coming and how to handle it. If I could, I would plan every single detail of my life. I know that life does not work this way, but there are some things that, in my opinion, we can and should plan, including prioritizing our time and our relationships with people.
With our hectic schedules and tons of things to do, how do we manage our life wisely and, most importantly, find time for our loved ones?
God commands us to love others and treat them as we would like to be treated. Think about it for a second. How would you like to be treated? Do you like when people respect your time and show up in time to meet you?
Would you like people to keep their word and their promises to you? How would you feel if you were prioritized by others?
Jesus made it clear that there is nothing more important in this life than our relationships with Him and people. So, how do we love people?
We prioritize and invest our time in them. We plan to have time for them. We plan to be intentional.
If we plan and even make an appointment to meet a friend, we will likely do it! putting others first means respecting their time. Not everybody likes spontaneous meetings or seeing someone show up at their house unannounced.
Don’t feel weird about planning your meetings, even if that’s your best friend. If you plan, it means you are intentional and want to do your best for the meeting to happen.
Plan your time for people. Loving people means caring about others, prioritizing your relationships with them over your daily schedule.
God is seen through our actions, our behavior and how we treat others. If we say we love God, but don’t love people, we are hypocrites.
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
