The Beauty of The Fall Season

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

Isaiah 40:8

The fall season is finally here! It looks orange and yellow, and smells like pumpkin spice. Every season is made beautiful, but there’s something that makes each of the four unique and important for us.

Just like fall is important for farmers because they get rewarded for their hard work and can finally collect the harvest of their labor, the same way the spiritual season of fall is important for every believer of Jesus Christ who can see the goodness and faithfulness of God in their faith journey.

The season of fall is the time to reap what we have sown during the year. It can be a  very beautiful, colorful,  joyful and productive season, if you have sown the right seeds and worked hard during a certain period of time. If you have sown the seeds with the intention to advance God’s Kingdom and work for Him all this time, you are fairly rewarded. If you are obedient, faithful in trials, and persistent in prayers, the season of fall always brings something good to reap.

On the contrary, if you have been lukewarm and lazy Christian, you have not sown any good seeds of faithfulness, love and obedience to God’s Word, and have not administered you gifts according to your calling, do not expect to see a good harvest in your relationships with Jesus either.

How do we know that we are in the season of fall in our faith? We know it by the fruit that’s been produced in us and our lives, our relationships with Jesus and people around us, and by how strong our faith has become compared to other seasons of our life.

The Fruit of the Spirit. Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are the fruits produced by the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). A true Christ follower is known for the way they live and behave. The more we grow in our faith, the more fruit we produce. If we renew our mind, we begin acting and thinking like Jesus. We produce evidence of our faith.

Relationships. In the season of harvest we can enjoy our solid relationships with people. This is the time for friendships to produce their fruit through edifying, encouraging, strengthening and bringing us closer to Christ.

Stronger faith. Fall is not immune from trials, but after seasons of preparing and working hard on your relationships with Jesus, you should be confident in the Lord enough to handle anything that comes your way. That’s how you know you are in the season of fall - you reap peace and self-control, kind and loving character after sowing obedience to the Lord and following His will.

Autumn should be the most beautiful season of our faith because we can see and enjoy the fruit of our relationships with Jesus.

It’s very encouraging to experience the season of harvest in our faith. We see the working power of the Gospel in our lives and it motivates us to serve the Lord and work for His Kingdom even with bigger excitement.

If you can see the fruit of the spirit manifested in you like never before, your relationships prosper, and your faith in Jesus strong and solid, you are in the season of fall.

Enjoy it, give thanks to the Lord for his goodness and love for you.
