"Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them". Matthew 7:12

The Golden Rule is based on the principle Jesus Christ taught in Matthew 7:12. The significance of Jesus Christ’s statement in this verse is huge.

What we call the Golden Rule is the summation of God’s entire way of life. God is love and he loves his creation, including us people. Therefore, when we become His children, God wants us to emulate Him and love others just like He loves each of us.

Jesus’s love was beyond people’s comprehension. He was mocked for it, mistreated, and hurt. Today, his love is available for us through his Spirit living in the heart of every reborn believer. Are you one of them?

Do you live the Golden Rule which Jesus modeled and died for us to be able to execute in our own lives?

The Golden Rule can be applied in any situation of our daily life and lead us to better relationships with people.

Healthy marriage: Golden Rule can improve and strengthen marriages (Ephesians 5:28, 33).

Biblical parenting: Golden Rule can be the guide for parents when raising their children (Ephesians 6:4).

Loving relationships with others: Golden rule can help build and maintain good relations between friends, neighbors, and co-workers (Proverbs 3:27, 28; Colossians 3:13).

How can we  APPLY THE GOLDEN RULE in our daily lives?:

Practice empathy - put yourself in someone else’s shoes (Romans 12:15).

Be friendly and helpful - don’t turn blind eye on somebody’s need for help; help with what you can, be encouraging and supportive (Galatians 6:2, Proverbs 20:6).

Hate sin, not a sinner - remember that we are all sinful and make bad choices (Romans 3:10).

Don’t criticize or control others - no one is perfect and has a free right to make their own decisions, choices and even mistakes (Proverbs 20:6; Romans 14:4).

Love people - the second greatest commandment of all. Love covers many sins; ating each other with love is our calling.

I hope that this article helps you to understand the Golden Rule better. Pray for a loving heart. Practice this rule each day in your relationships with other believers, your spouse, children, family and friends, and even unbelievers you encounter daily.

Be loving. Be the light of the world Jesus taught about. You might be the only Jesus people around you may get to know.
